Prince Harry & Meghan Markle: Mental Health Visit 2026

Our Challenge:
Capture mental health insights for young people in rural and regional Victoria during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2026 Australia visit.

Visual stories for a royal visit

Outcome & Impact

Shapeshifters’ graphic facilitation during Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle’s Melbourne visit demonstrated how visual storytelling can unlock deeper, more honest dialogue—especially on a topic as personal and complex as youth mental health. Hosted at Swinburne University and organised by Batyr, the event brought together young people from rural and regional Victoria to speak directly about their lived experiences and the real barriers they face when trying to access support.

By embedding individual graphic facilitators with small groups, Shapeshifters created a safe, structured way for participants to be heard—capturing insights in real time with clarity and care. The resulting visual summaries didn’t just document what was said; they distilled nuance, highlighted patterns, and gave participants a shared reference point that strengthened confidence and shaped the conversation. These visuals became the backbone of the dialogue with Harry and Meghan, who received the insights directly from young people with first-hand experience, while also sharing their own mental health journeys.

Internationally televised and reported globally, the work amplified voices that are too often overlooked. The outcome was more than a successful event: it generated meaningful visibility for a cause central to the health and wellbeing of marginalised young people across Australia.
